Got this from a friend today up in Manteo,
There are many of us that are not aware of the lawsuit taking place on April 4, 2008 with regards to use and access of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The website attached is for anyone to look at. It is important that everyone take part in a decision that affects ALL of us (regardless of opinion). I think ultimately the efforts are to endorse good political process through understanding and community involvement.
In Fall of 2007, National Audubon Society, The Defenders of Wildlife and the Southern Environmental Law Center filed suit in Federal District Court against the United States of America to limit or ban access to many of the primary areas of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, including Oregon Inlet, Cape Point, most of Ocracoke and many others. On March 13, 2008 the Dept of Justice declined to contest the lawsuit which will be heard April 4, 2008 in Raleigh NC. This effectively means that beach access will be closed at that time, severely impacting these economies.

Before anyone starts bitchin at me, I'm just passing this along.![]()
