Thumbs down Ouch!

I had a friend who came in contact with one of these in Mexico. The sting was made on her calf and her leg became firey red and swelled to double normal size below the knee. She was taken to a local clinic where she was given a shot of some kind. It took days for her to return to work.

I hope you get better .

Do not flush with fresh water, that starts the stinging all over again. Pour white vinegar on the area. Then if possible soak a rag with white vinegar and keep it on the affected area.

Barry, have you actually tried this ?

I tried holding vinegar (on a paper towel) on a wasp sting and it blistered and burnt the skin off my neck. I still have a scar.

Just wondering.

Rick,

White vinegar alone wont do that. You must have had one bad ass wasp bite.

I dotn mess with the wasp bites unless I have a dip or a tube of benadryl. Regardless of what you put on them the hurt like H-E- Double Hockey Sticks!

I was zapped bad when I was a kid... Had welts the size of quarters for days... Vinegar, amonia, and yes pee also works.

Some how the palm of my hands have become kind of immune but I still get lit up if they get on the back of my hand or on the soft underside of my arm...

Its good practice to keep several liquids aboard for various problems. Bleach, amonia, vinegar, peroxide all come to mind. Hope you feel better...

my buddy got one good when he was in the Dominican Republic he was swimmming and got one wraped around his shoulder onto his torso so he had to swim back with one arm and the first thing the native man did once he got him on the dock was whip it out and started to pee on him right there

try clearing that blue gel stinging stuff off your lines all day...

then forget about it and walk into the head to go pee and grab your Mr. Wiggly and ... .... you will think twice about grabbing it again with the blue stuff!

I was in the water last week scrubbing the waterline on my boat. Without knowing, I ran my elbow right through a PMOW and rubbed back and forth. I thought something bit my elbow off, the pain was so immediate and severe.
What was more unfortunate for me was someone suggested I put ICE on the area. Huge mistake !!! This led to chest pains, stiffness in all joints, including neck, and severe shooting pains through all extremeties.
The pain lasted for two days and even now, the area looks like a bad 2nd degree burn.

Do NOT put ICE of a PMOW sting, trust me !!!

I tried peeing on it, bleach, handsoap, anything that i could find on the boat. No relief. didnt stop hurting until the next day. I mean the pain was instantaneous. It hurt all the way up under my arm but we kept fishing. Thanks for the responses.
