Popped my cherry this weekend

While this is nothing special for most of you, just thought I would share that I released my first two bill fish this past weekend. We were going after sails in south Florida and pulled the Grady down and fished Thursday afternoon freelance and Friday a.m with a charter then on our own friday p.m and Saturday. We nailed the first one while I was setting the spread on Thursday afternoon. I had just set the left side when BAM sail on the long rigger. My buddy grapped the rod and the sail dog started to dance. It was the first time my girlfriend had been offshore, she did not know what to think. Let me tell you this was no small sail dog! When we got it beside the boat I guessed it would go 70-80lbs, we snapped some pics and made a nice release. Friday a.m we were live baiting with the charter and hooked another on the the mate guessed would go 80lbs also. I had fun fighting that baby on a live bait spinning rod. We finished the morning with about a dozen gaffer dolphin. Went back that afternoon in the Grady with the girls and put another 20lb+ gaffer in the box. Saturday we were going to try live baiting but could not find the bait. We headed out with the remaining ballys and caught another gaffer before heading for the barn as the seas got snotty. Made the 12 hour drive back yesterday with a cooler full of fillets and two red release flags. All in all it was a great trip. A lot of prep. on the boat and tackle but we got them. I am pumped.

Pretty work. That's some hard core fishing. Can't wait for the bills to start chew here.

You can't catch two without first catching one... Way to go! Theres been a good chew going on. I havn't had a lot of trips recently between getting the boat ready for the islands and just plainslow traffic.
