I just use flat black auto primer - it seems to do pretty well and it is cheap

I would just use one. Less to clear lines around and it usually brings up other fish (like someone else said) during the fight.

Although I don't have one to use right now. I was hoping to win one in a recent contest but failed to win the object of my desire.

I have tried black paints and primers and they just don't seem to hold up very long before they start flaking off. From reading Marty's latest, it looks like his years of experience takes him back to the black Sharpie for his planers.
