    Planer Rod ?

Would a Diawa Dendoh deep drop rod work as planer rod? I have a store credit and i was thinking of giving it a shot. I would not be running anything bigger than a #16.

There a couple of choices and im not sure what would work better. They have a 5'6" length or a 6'6" length.

The heavy action is rated for 60-150 line and the Xtra Heavy is rated for 80-200 line.

Each has at least 3 SIC guides and the Aftco swivel top along with a long bent butt.

Any opinions if its worth trying or not? Thanks

have used one in the past with a #8 planer fished inline with 50 or so ft of leader behind it.....worked just fine. only problem i see using one with a bridle system is that the swivel tip is not large enough to pass the bridle and crimps thru.

YOU JUST GOTTA GO TRY IT OUT.....

I HAVE WROTE SEVERAL ARTICLES AND MADE NUMEROUS VIDEOS EXPLAINING THE WHAT WHEN WHY AND WHERE CONCERNING MY THOUGHTS ON PLANER RODS .....AND YOURS AS DESCRIBED IS TOTALLY FOREIGN TO ME...

What he said! We used the 5'6" heavy action with a 50lb class reel. Would likely handle a# 16, but haven't tried that.
    Good luck,

Cool, thanks for saving me the aggravation of setting one up only to wind it to the crimp and hear Clunk Clunk. That would have sucked!
