Squidnation Mantazza over a Hoo is the ticket for some of us carolina boys.

I also use an Islander over a cople cut down shell squids - double hook rigged with no meat for Wahoo.

I like to pull the Black/Blu Yozuri Swimming Bonita or a straight running Islander with a squid shell underneath. Double hooked. Used to pull the Islander with meat and had success but I did have cutoffs that didnt trip the planer. I think anything will work deep when they are biting though.

The purple or orange matanza or black/purple billy bait are my most productive lures - rigged with a large medium or select hoo.

I would go so far as to say that the matanza is the single best development for meat fishing with ballyhoo in the last 10 years. I believe it out performs the Ilander/ballyhoo combination.

Blue Zuker w/ grass skirt & ballyhoo combo is always a good option.

I have had great luck with either the upright troller style bait or black based ilanders with some flash added.

I can build you some of these if you want

    Go Necked

A necked split bill on 12ft #9 piano wire is the best go to bait for me.This Stud fell for the splitbill.

Dont forget about the Drone spoons. We have done well with Drones for tuna and Wahoo. The Wahoo below was caught on a pink drone on the planer rod..Mark
