Pitch Baits
When trolling offshore what do you guys have handing for pitch baits? How do you rig them, and do you go to lighter tackel like spinning rods and lighter line?
I have a spinning rod with a smaller hook with squid, primarly because all my other rods are used in the trolling spread.

Kinda depiends on what we are pitching to. For Sails and Whites, TLDs 25 and 30s, for BLues, 50s or better...

Ponce, I have two of these that I used on the grady.

I ordered them from Meltons.
I used shimano 6500 spinners and have picked many a dolphin off my teasers with them. Sometimes if the bite is slow and we hook a fish, I would also just blind cast the pitch bait back into the vicinity of the hooked fish. Something about that bait splashing on the water, will draw a strike 4 out of 10 casts.

The spinning reel should be fine. I have a small Penn International baitcasting reel and I use it alot to pitch a lure next to a weed line for Mahi. It is a fun fight on light tackle. Even pitched a small pogie to schoolie kings with it.
