Pirates Pride-06/13/09

Just joined the forum not to long ago and finally got a break from school and weather and got a chance to go fishing. This was the first chance Ive had to get off the beach this year except for a couple king trips earlier this spring.figured I'd post up a little report.

Headed out of masonboro inlet at about 5:30 hoping to find some dolphin in the 20-30 mile range. Stoped at a rock about 17 miles out when we saw a bunch of flyers, set the riggers out and as soon as I got the first line out, the right long, it got smacked by a 10-15 lbs king, my old man made quick work of gettin him to the boat and started gettin the mess back out again and bam, the right long gets smacked again before I can get the short even in the water, another 15 lbs king.

Finally got the whole spread out and started to troll offshore a bit, got in some 77-79 degree water and got away from the kings and picked at the dolphin for about 2 hours, got three nice fish to the boat along with a couple short bites and a king that skyed behind the boat about 6 feet outa the water and took an Ilander with him. Not a bad day on the water and back to the dock by about 1 in the afternoon. Two of the three dolphin inhaled a pink and crystal bluewater candy mini jag. my new favorite skirt .

Way to go on the fins and kings! I am still hoping for the chance this weekend, but the weather is looking like it doesn't want to cooperate. Atleast I get to live vicariously through the reports!
