Pirates' Cove Crew... The Final Edit

We had another great trip in early October on our annual fishing adventure to the waters of the OBX. This year was quite a challenge with the weather giving the area a total of 22" of rain prior to our arrival followed by winds and heavy seas through the first four days. Our crew made up of ten with four boats in tow hit the waters looking for a bite and found the canals and ponds inside Pirates Cove the place to be DAY ONE. Making bait was an easy task each morning with the success ending at the beginning of each day. This gave us time to clean boats and gear, enjoy great food and drinks while taking in an evening game of NCAA/NFL Football or the post season MLB Playoffs. As the week was coming to an end the waters slowly started coming back to life giving us hope. On Thursday the three of us on my boat gained new energy after some quality time with a few AJ's and Bonito. Fridays seas again grew to a size not comfortable to navigate in a little 23wa as we loaded the live well with blues along side The Marauder and The Duke hoping for another chance. While most of our party headed inland on Friday to prior commitments the three of us remaining turned to Saturdays forecast. We were faced with 2'-4' seas and 5-10kt NW wind rotating out of the W loaded for the deep. WOW! What a day we had. Nearing shore the final afternoon we shared with the others on land via text&pics of the events of that incredible day.

    This is our story...
