I had plans for today to make a boat repair for a good friend, but I get a call last night from fishing buddy Jason that I'm needed for a fishing trip asap, they only have 2 head and need some help in the cockpit, well the boat repair is on tomorrows hit list. Met Jason and Scott at Oriental at 2:45am for a run down the ditch in Scotts 28ft. Scout and deep down south we went. Lines in under the new moon, under the moon light I see something pile on the flat, missed but the mouse trap connected. Short tussle a 35lb. piggy in the box. Soon after day break the right short explodes and is soon out past the WWB, pulled off, I drop and drop, bam he's back on and in a hurry to go somewhere besides the ice bed with it's lil bro. Guys cleared lines while I hung on. Good fight and Scott puts the sting on a fat 50lb.+ pig. Man did the wheels fall off after that, one planer bite off all day, snagged 2 slinger mahi, ran thru a pack of peanuts. Ended up down south of the NE Scallop beds 30-65 ftms and it was dead, no rips or grass lines, plenty of 78-81deg. water. Worked back up the break to where we started and the WWB come tight then slack, Jason on the drop back and we are back on him. Quick work and I pop another 35-40lb. pig in the box, NE wind is really starting to pile up and there are plenty of white caps building.
Crank it in and start the 46 mile run to MHC, plenty of spray and quite a few bumps along the way. The ride across the river was pretty much the same, but there are some piggies on ice and blood on the deck. Probally the last trip for me for quite a while as I'm in high gear on the job hunting adventure now. Good day on the water with some great guys, thanks Jason and Scott.
he forgot to mention the saildog that came up on the dredge, dropped back hooked up and POP!!!!!! sail dog free jumping through the spread trying to shake a hook and witch that came unbuttoned
