Pig Hoo on the Electric Bill!!!!

Well today was a day of celebration and mishaps. Started out BI with Chip, Phil and Jason on the Electric Bill. Got out the shipping channel and things were a little sporty, waited on a Freebird/Shane to get out and pave the way down south. Tucked up in the prop wash is a great place to be when things get sloppy.

Started south of the BR, lines in next to In2Fowl and his new ride, all I can say is Sweet!!! Shortly after setting out I see a flash on the short flat, mahi, missed, drop back BAM it is on in a BIG way. Everyone clear the lines, we left the planer over, well where does the fish go? Yep in the planer, great I continued to crank and pump, up comes the planer which luckily Chip manages to get untangled. Fish finally gets close, me and Chip get ready to draw blood but the fish doesn't look right, no stripes; Is it a Sail or Hoo?? Fish rolls up behind the motor and Chip says big HOO and puts the steel to'em, I wait patiently to see my prize when Chip say I need Help!!! Jason grabs the gaff and the biggest Hoo that we have ever seen comes thru the back door!! What a Pig, so fat it doesn't have any stripes, I could barely get my hands around the tail.

The below picture doesn't do justice to the size of this pig. Chip says it'll go atleast 80lb. Phil says a least 90, feels like 100 to me!! it could be 125lb. before it gets back to the dock, Sorry Shane I got carried away, sure was a good conversation piece though After high fives we set back out, bam another on the flat, pulls off, several more cut up baits. Work on south some more when we get nailed again, missed, then the planer does its thing "Fish On" after putting up a good fight the fish gets really ticked and refuses to let me steel to it and gives Chip a fit after 2 failed attempts I stike home and a good 40lb. fish hits the deck.

Thing are looking pretty good for us. Well things slowed down and after a couple more misses we work out to 80fthm and find a good rip and grass starting to pile up. The peanuts attack everything, after a dozen or so we make the move to find more Hoos. Up the break we go nearly a hour later we head inshore of the SW corner of the BR, 30fthm. we get a couple more peanuts off of some trash. Then something hammers a 50 and heads off, Phil goes to work, acts like a Hoo, surprise a sport Blackfin hits the deck, circle back bam another one on ice. To finish like it started the flat gets piled on and the 50 starts singing, get everything out of the way.
Another 40lb. Hoo comes to the boat then goes crazy when Chip nails him, this is where my all day high comes crashing down during the tussle to subdue the fish and get it over the gunnel the end of the gaff knocks my BRAND NEW Tyrnos16 2spd/ Jigging setup out of a T-Top holder and Phil makes a valiant effort to grab it as it flies into the killing that is taking place between Chip and the very angry fish, unfortunatly for me the new setup swims with the fishes. Yes I'm a little upset but @!$#% happens but it doesn't change the fact that there is the biggest and fattest pig HOO in the fish bag, which belongs Bay Wolf, thanks Rick!!! We stopped at the Gulf Dock and carried the fish down the Carolina Princess scale where it weight 72lb. 60in. long and 26in girth, I filled out my citation form and we headed for the ramp.

After a well deserved supper at Smithfields we stopped at EJW's to re-weigh the fish to see if it had gotten bigger while we ate Nope 72lb. Hopefully Chip can post our pic that we took on the boat trying to hold the pig up for pics which we almost put it back overboard!
