Pierless Grouper Fishing 7/29 & 8/4 With Pics
With most of the fishing slowing down the the normal "dog day" levels, and the freezer becoming less than full of grouper, I decided to head off to a few of the offshore grouper spots that I haven't hit in several months.
On the first trip (7/29), most of the crew bailed the night before, so it ended up just being Alex and I. We got a late start and didn't leave until around 10 AM. Ran out to one of my favorite areas and immediately found a HOT bite. We limited on grouper and caught and released many more in only two stops. Left around 2:30 as a bad storm was approaching and dodged several more coming home.
The second trip (8/4) I pointed the Pierless the same general area. Found a steady bite on really nice sized fish. The largest fish were a 37" gag, and a 19 lb. red, with most of the other fish being right around that size. We also caught a couple snapper, TONS of grunts, some bailer mahi, several eels, and my first ever LOBSTER! Sorry for the bad pic quality on this one, only thing we had was a phone camera.
