Thumbs up Picture from my last trip!

Hello all sorry it has been so long I am in a class thru the Navy and just got back on Guam from a vacation to smoky norther California to visit friends and family. We trolled hard most of the morning with no luck and we were switching out lures more than Britney Spears changes moods and still nothing! We were chasing the birds but didn't have any luck so around 11 am we went to Galvez bank reef and started to do some bottom fishing while we drifted. The skip jack head you see is the product of one of the many reef sharks we encountered. They took off with probably around 20 of our fish becasue we couldn't get them in fast enough. The rainbow runner is what we caught after we started trolling again but didn't catch it untill it was almost dark. On the way back to the dock we ran out of gas luckily we brought some spare gas cans with us that were full to get us back into the marina! All in all it was a pretty fun day of bottom fishing wish we would have caught some yellow fin or some wahoo but you can't win them all everyday! I guess that is why it is called fishing and not catching but we have a pretty nice mess of fish to eat anyways!

    Thumbs up Good to go!

Eric I am down to go spear fishing even though I don't know if I will be able to hit anything unless it is huge and then I don't know if I would want to shoot something like that! HA HA HA HA Anyways you can use my gps but the day that we caught these I didn't have it with me but you can use the gps to get you over the reef and then use the depth finder to get into the 130 and shallower areas. That is all we did and used those double hooked leaders and a 4 oz weight at the bottom with calamari for bait!

    Very cool report, thanks.
Would you please id the bottom fish on your picture? I recognize the parrot fish and the wrasses (in addition to the jack and rainbow runner) but what are the other ones?
    Thanks,

    Thumbs up answers

Seabiscuit sorry it took me so long to get back to you but the brownish fish are called mafuti and the red ones are called gadao. I am sure these are the local names of these fish and for the correct name not sure. I am sure I made this clear as mud to ya'll but I do what I can HA HA HA HA HA HA
