Dan found this thread that I did on building a tuna rod:
Tuna Rod Build Start to Finish

And sent me a pm saying that he wanted to build some rods now because of it. How cool is that! The power of SFC is felt world wide

Thanks for the report and photos Dan. Your vessel looks very clean, is she private or in charter?

----------

Re the poster who asked about Longtails - from what I can gather they are probably closest to your blackfin tuna - they tend to hang around more inshore types of environments and look like a duller coloured version of a yellowfin. Much lighter meat than skippies or kawa kawas, sweet and very good to eat raw or cooked. They're quite widely distributed through the Indo Pacific from as far west as Kenya and Tanzania on the east African coast to Australia and the South China Sea. The largest longtail I've seen from the Phuket area was only maybe 15 lbs or so but they get up to around 70 lbs in other areas.

Regards

Patudo, Thanks for the info on the Longtails. It is very nice cooked or raw. Sometimes we cut one up raw and enjoy it on the boat. THAIONEON is a charter boat out of Chalong Bay.
