I like mine but I worry about line capacity at times. But I don't like using braid

I have had great luck spooled with 60 and 80 mono

I know there are lot's of people that pack em with braid and it for sure will give you the added advantage

some of the larger catches i have seen on The VS 70
    500+ bluefin standup
    350 BM
multiple sharks in the 250 range

I think they are just the right size for standup

FWIW, I just had one loaded up by Basil (BHP Tackle) with 850 yards of Jerry Brown Hollow core spectra in 130lb strength. Then, we looped in 100 yards of 100lb Momoi Diamond topshot.

We probably could have put more spectra on, so attaining 1000yards of line and still having plenty of stretch is possible.

Thanks for the feed back guys. I will be spooling with a braid bottom shot. I have been doing that on all my 2-speeds. I use my TLD 30A's for most of my local offshore fishing down here in NC. I've always use 130's or 80's for BFT up north but I figured I scale down, seemed like a good mid range reel. If I get spooled on this it woulkd be my fault since I run a center console and could chase them down. Thanks again Ken

I see you are from the Topsail area. You don't happen to know a fella by the name of Randy Mosely, married to a nice gal named Jennifer? He is an old friend of mine that I lost touch with. Just curious.

I am not sure. I know he used to have a cool little "mini" tug boat he did some sort of water taxi stuff or someting like that with.

Thanks for looking for me. He and I were pretty tight for a while, and just lost touch over the years.

I had some issues with some prototypes that I had to test. The studs connecting the reel seat though big were brittle and we busted a couple sets. That though was prototypes.
I saw one lock up on another boat new out of the box and the owner throw it in at the dock during a tourney this year. That being said that is the modelthat my tournament boat owner settled on for the big stand up stuff this year. I busted em open before ever even spooling and gave a thorough look through. I found no issues. I loaded with 80 and stand up bent butts. Drags are smooth under all tests so far and when I get a night or two I will test further on swords before using on the tourney trail. These particular ones feel right and I see no reason they shouldn't work...
