    Pamlico Sound Fishing

Fish doing anything in the sound? I'll be around Lower Broad Creek for a week starting on St. Patricks Day. Any trout being caught?
How about fishing off of Morehead City? I see a few boats are planning to go out trolling for tuna, but I'm not set up for that. Any bottom-fish biting?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hey Wahoo,

Thanks for your reply. It gives me a little more confidence for the trip. Looks like a trip to AR 320. Guess I'll be buying squid at the Neuse River Sport Shop after all!

    Thanks!

I do not know of anyone catching any fish on my side of the pamlico. Except up the rivers. They have killed the rock/stripers up the rivers from 3 to 8 pounds. All the local guys here though are focusing on the lake it just opened up and everyone is trying to find their little secret spot for this year.

onejacker, First let me welcome you to the board. I know you will enjoy it here. Last time I went trout fishing in the lower part of the Neuse was a couple of weeks ago and had a good outing, Trout seem to have pushed up the creeks some but they were chewing on Mirrow lures. Got a report that the Shad are chewing up the river, allthough I have not had the chance to go.
    MirrOlure when big fish count!

Hey rich, RAY JR, and gottaflylee,

Thanks for the replys. I hope to be on the water all week next week from Ocracoke to Morehead, and all points in between. I'll post the results (good or bad hehehe) the week of the 26th. Man I'm dying for some BSB to fry, or speckled/grey trout, or a nice croaker or two, or.......you get the idea.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

If you get out around bluff shoal try the grey trout and let me know how it goes. I have been wanting to run over there and try them I just can't talk my fishing partner into trying them yet.

    Fellas,

Just a quick follow-up to my post ten days ago. Fished out of Morehead one day, but could only find the spiny dogs. Just dont have enough experience yet, but I aint gonna quit.

Fished around Swann Island, inside Ocracoke, and around my place on the Lower Broad for trout several days. Nada. Saw some legal trout and flounder, but they came out of gill-nets.

Did cut the grass at the house. That sucked. Had more fun replacing a few missing boards on the dock. Something about working that close to the boat made it a good thing. Go figure.

    pat
