It's called planned obsolescence..im with ya every year it's replace the hinges or latches or both P.O.S., got drawers stocked with spares up north..pitiful engineering..or not?

What thought process figured stainless wood screws would stay tight in plastic that's less than a 1/8" thick, and that is being generous. Boggles the cranium.

Ha! I just went through the same thing. My cooler is now nicknamed 'the shingrater' after the hinges busted and the screws seemed to leap out and bite our legs at any opportunity. I was fishing with forums member SERPrise at the time and in one of my latest reports you can see a picture of him with his legs all cut up and bloody!
