nylon goes to shit pretty quick.

mono is the way to go.

500lb to 800lb mono........I use 800 commercial mono w/ glass rings........... works great ..... anything run through metal will make a groove in it! You can also get it different colors for your short and long.

On the RUN-OFF we use Momoi Diamond 400 lb test clear.

Do not use the X-Hard Diamond line because it is a little more slippery when it gets wet. Makes it harder to raise and lower the clips.

The regular diamond 400 lb test has more grip to it.

    mono

i agree with the 500lb mono...the sun does take its toll on it but it is so easy to rerig and modify....i can also tighten it up when it stretches just by cutting back and recrimping

    I vote for mono.

Remember mono shrinks first, stretches later. Start off with your halyards a little loose, as they will shrink after a few days in the sun.

    I use 500 lb mono on mine - 3 different colors -

    Black - long
    Blue - short
    Red - teaser

Other than looking pretty neat, it is easy to tell newbies what halyard to mess with (if I can get them to the right side of the boat)

400# Momoi for me. Tried the nylon way back when and just did not like it.
