    Outrigger halyards???

    Marty,
I was wondering if you could share you system for outrigger halyards. I know how much you love bungee cords!!! But, if and I say if you were going to eliminate them, how would you do so?

P.S. I'm gonna follow you from board to board until you give up the info!!!

    Thanks for you help...Will

While we are waiting for the instruction video-- go to any decent marine rigging store and buy a 3/8" and 5/16" fid. I wouldn't waste my $$$ on the "universal" size fids though. This chinese handcuff thing is one slick trick and you'll end up using it for all kinds of stuff. Thanks for sharing Marty.
BTW, don't get that cheap ass braided stuff at Home Depot or Wally World for this job--- it just don't seem to work right.

Since Marty is in the middle of the move...thought I would jump in and show the halyards he recommended to me, after I confessed that I too had bungees.

This outrigger halyard has several features not found in other halyards. Made from 5/16 inch braided rope, the length of the halyard can be adjusted from 20 to 30 inches. The sliding eye splice lets you choose the correct length for your outriggers. Unlike other halyards, this one will not stretch and lets your release clip do the job it was designed for. Snap one end of the Halyard to a pad eye mounted on your boat, the other end has a pulley to hold one or two outrigger lines. Includes pulleys and pad eyes. Sold by the set, these Halyards can be used with mono or cord as you prefer.

    I purchased from: http://www.tightlinestackle.com

No problem Marty. Just did the moving thing myself, so I feel your pain! I still close my eyes and see cardboard boxes. Thanks for you help!

    Kcummin,
You have it backwards. Put the fixed loop in the eye and screw it down and then put the adjustable loop on the pulley. It will work easyer.

    Pitch_Bait,
    You have good eyes.....

The picture is actually from the website not mine, which haven't been installed yet (Hoping to install when this snow and cold weather goes away).

But, I would have installed them the way the picture shows..

    Thanks for the tip!

OK, i think i get it. . . its a lot like the loop i would make when doing a wind-on leader. . . but how do you clamp it off to lock the cord down and not let it slip???
