Shimano is leading the charge in this fight against government closures and have been for several years. They are the single largest contributor to this cause (can't say how much money they have donated, but its a LOT!) and have 2 full time employees (one is Phil Morlock, whom some people may have heard of in the recent articles that Shimano sent out) whose job is to stay up to date on the issues and fight them. These employees travel to Washington regularly to fight these issues.

We ask the same question....where is everyone else? The PERMANENT closures in the state of California are downright scary! I'm not talking closed to fishing only....nosiree! They will not let you launch your boat, swim, surf, or even look at the water in these zones. This is what it's all coming to and what the other side wants. Starting now, we're passing out bumper stickers and trying to get the 60 million anglers on board TOGETHER to try and help us fight this. These bumper stickers have the website address on them----I'll be sure to get you a few when I get some.

You hit the nail on the head though....EVERYONE in the fishing industry including dealers, consumers, boat dealers, outboard motor companies, diesel motor companies, the list goes on and on MUST be together on this issue. There are 60 million anglers alone (not counting all the other industries) and together we can, and will make a difference.

Actually Box, most of the charter boats in the Carolinas increased their rates or added surcharges when the price of fuel went up last year. They passed the rising cost along to the consumer, just like the orange growers are doing.

Plus, the Florida citrus industry is worth Nine BILLION Dollars a year. You're honestly going to compare charter fishing to that?

I admit that I very seldom post here in "your world," and I'm certainly not trying to bash you on your own forum but come on...blanket comments like that just show a narrow-minded outlook on the world. Please try to see farther than the end of the Morehead City fuel dock.

Marty Not bashing here one bit. Just wanted to make you are aware that Brazil is the largest producer of oranges and orange juice in the world. So when you go to the store just look for brazilean oranges and orange juice and boycott the florida stuff oooops - I mean boycott the AMERICAN STUFF. oooops - I mean the AMERICAN STUFF GROWN BY FARMERS IN THE USA just because its a little more expensive. Geeez next thing you know you are gonna start boycotting american tackle and buying it from other countries like ummmmm lets say CHINA.

Honestly - you know I am being sarcastic and you know I know you are as red blooded american as baseball, apple pie and taco king. Thats why I am a bit surprised that you would call on a boycott of a product made by farms in the USA.
