    OPENING DAY 07

Well, this is sure intresting. I like reading all the storys, pretty cool.

I figure ill say a pretty memorable day i had on the water, Ducky water that is

Last year, Opening day duck season here in DE. I had been anticipating this day for awhile. Decoys had a fresh coat, gun was shooting prime, 4 boxes of 3" #2s had been sitting on my dresser for a month. Calls were primed and sounding good. Boat was working great, oh yeeaaa, its time to go baby.

Get the call 2 days before from my homey Al, He says, you wanna go kill some shit opening day??? WELL da huh. So the morning finially comes, stop at my favorite spot wawa pick up a large coffe and a biscut and its off. Meet Al at the ramp, at 0dark thrity. Get loaded up and were full steam ahead skippa. hour later reach are destination, a little pond weve been hunting for years off the river, since we could hold shotguns and walk in waste deep mud(lucky for us da warden never came by ) Well we pull up to spot and its low tide, and what do ya know a dam Beaver rat had built a mound of logs blocking are path. Okay, minor setback, finially get over the dam thing. finish the last 50 yards to the mouth of the pond. Well believe it or not were acutally early, thats a first. We chill for a couple minutes and relax. Get the dekes set up all pretty and nice, find a nice spot in the reeds and its rock N roll time. Soon as the light cracks we here the whistling of the torpedos AKA teals, No reason in wasting shots, just hold off. Soon we see the first pack of Greenheads. Start to work them and work them, and next thing ya know, in yo face action, BOOOM BOOM BOOM, SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH........... What ensued after those opening shots can only be known as all out choas................. ... .. Wave after wave of greens passed over head, some circled us, some landed in the marsh around us, some tried landing on are heads. BOOM BOOM , DA BOOM DIDY BOOM. 15 minutes later we were 2 greens short of a limit. Here comes a bunch, get read, BOOM BOOM, one splash. Now what happend next is true, to the core. Out of that group there was a second duck that was definitally hit, but wasnt going down, I started to call and hail, and quack to see if the Mofo would possibly turn around. Im guessing he was intrested in my conversation becuase sure enough, he FLEW RIGHT INTO A DAM TREE, WAAACK! Down he goes. 10 minutes later we find him at the base of a tree across from the pond

Drifted the river home and shot 2 more drake woodys. Im ready for that action..

    Hey TUNA TEASER, start practicing....

Gotta love it when things come together. Chaos is great, woods or water.
