Saw on the news yesterday that everyone in Ma. is gonna HAVE TO GET A FISHING LICENSE.Yup thats right starting Jan 1.2009 you will need a license to fish in saltwater.They say they will NOT charge you the first year but after that you watch there will be just another friggen fee to fish!!!I heard that it will be $25.00 to $50.00 to obtain such a stupid license!!!This state sucks big time!!!!

Not only Mass. MD, FL, VA,etc. have had Salwater Licenses for years.

Been that way in VA for years...sucks if you ask me. Especially when you see where the funds go vs. where they were SUPPOSED to go. A bunch of politician dickhead bullshit if you ask me

Don't feel singled out.It's not just Mass.With last years federal reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens act,it was mandated that the creation of a Federal Angler Registry be done so the fisheries managers would be able to more closely monitor the numbers of landings.Any coastal state that hasn't implemented a registry by 2011,will have one implemented for them by the Feds.It never stated whether or not a fee would be imposed,but this kind of thing will cost a lotta money to run.If your state doesn't do it,they will lose the chance,and the monies raised will go to the feds.In the end,all we can do is hope that having actual numbers to use,the feds will be better able to manage stocks,as of now,they use "estimates".

Delaware started the saltwater liscense this year. Used to be that you only needed one for non - tidal. I wonder where the extra revenue is gonna go?
