Thumbs up

all this is great info BOX!!!! THANKS!!!

I like seeing the video of the planer rod tip again. I had mine built for my old boat, and a light tip would not work as well for it because the line would always get into the side of the boat or onto my motors - so what I have now are VERY stout, actually too rigid for my taste. I will eventually be looking to switch to a new more flexible rod. You are exactly right - the tip needs to be soft!!!!

After the strike and the first couple of cranks you seem to have yanked on the main line with your left hand - what was that for?

In my uninformed opinion; the rig that the planer was towing got hit, popped the rubberband, or clip (depending on how you rig it) and the planer rod unloaded. The underpaid mate started reeling up the planer to get it out of the way, and did a few quick pulls to get the slider on the planer to slide to the front which changed the angle of attack of the planer so that it would now plane up instead of down. Which makes it a lot easier to reel in.

Was that specific enough, and is it even somewhat right?

THE WAHOO BIT......AND I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE ROD TIP WAS NOT UNDER THE PRESSURE/OR BEND IT SHOULD HAVE SHOWN.....THEREFORE I ASSUMED NO FISH WAS HOOKED.....SO I GRABBED THE SPIDER WIRE(VERY DANGEROUS) AND JERKED ON IT A COUPLE TIMES TO "TWICH" THE BAIT ...HOPING TO ENTICE HOOSKI TO COME BACK FOR BITE #2....SOMETIMES IT WORKS BUT SOMETIMES HE PEELS OFF.....
