Having spent more time on the ball field (with my oldest son)than in my boat over the past 3 weeks, I just wanted to pass along some info to help ease my pain and to illustrate that time away may have been well spent.
The Winterville All-Stars placed second in the Eastern State championship. They lost the first game and won 8 of the last 9 over a 4 day period, including 3 on Sat. They wanted first, but being second out of 25 teams is not too bad.

when my son was 9 they had a killer team. the LBA Pelicans. they went to the world series in St. Louis. there were 72 teams from 27 states. They lost in the finals to the Bandito Black team from the Woodlands, TX at 2 in the morning. We really though we were going to beat them. they had to beat us twice because they came through the losers bracket. we thought they would run out of pitching. not. you didn't get to play on the Black team unless you were a good pitcher.
my son, Alden, is 15 and still at it hot and heavy. between baseball and girlfriend, my best fishing buddy is awol most of the time.
