Ok just had a look at that thread that was on BIG great whites on Capt Josh's Place, got me to thinking! There is a great video of Luckylady hooked up and not even making an dent on a fish at the end of the line, even using the boat to chase it down! (I would say a big flat fish)
There has to be some great story's of the "ONE" that did not even know it was hooked!! And gave a fun run around. to kick it off
Camps bay in Cape town SA I watched a guy using a spinning reel setup off the beach at the turn of the tide nearly lose it all perched on top of a large rock, he cast to hole in the Kelp when, wham! He sets the hook then proceeds to lose 300 yards of line at about 30yards a min yes 30 a min with max drag piled on( must admit thats about 10lb's cheap reel) as the fish never seen slowly went about its days business.
I have had a fish of a large size on tackle that could not cope, the rod was at fault really, it has to be the most frustrating thing in the world, when the rod bends from the grip!! and you cannot put any pressure on a fish at all knowing that the line and reel will cope.
Come on guys bring on the storys.
