i was at home kicking the dog and breaking expensive china after 15 days with 2 bites , a broken 200# mainline, and a pulled 9/0 jobo at the boat.

i hear stories of guys inquiring about commericial fishing for GBFT... heading from far and away places with penn 50w's spooled with straight 60# mono trailering there 23' sea pro down to cash in. Well let me save you the suspense.

There are no bad fishermen/women in MHC this time of year, "getting lucky" is the exception, not the rule. Come down for a week? you'll be lucky if the weather allows 2 fishable days. 50-150 boats will fish daily with 1,2,3 or if your lucky 5 bites happening, all within and hour of eachother all within one mile of eachother.


You will catch enough false albacore to keep the Baitmaster company in business for years to come. You will cut and re-rig hundreds of king mackeral decimated leaders. You will pound haystacks of bunker so hard and so long that you will actuall start snagging shad on your deep rigs.

You will lose fish, no matter how good you are, no matter how lucky you are, again this is the rule.

You will troll endlessly without a single bite. You will study temperature breaks until they are imprinted in your brain and then find no such break the next morning. You will be in the right spot, and the right time, pulling the right colors, at the right depth, and still not get a bite. And do it all the next day, and the next day and the next day.

Those who pursue these elusive and exclusive GBFT have my utmost respect.

i must soon make my decision, and as i always say "you have to be in it, to win it"

Well I was stuck here in lovely norfolk,Va with a child with crout which makes the little thing sound like darth vader, and attempting to start my downward spiral on a "less than 10 grams of fat a day diet" to support my wife before her surgery... have any of you ever read these stupid lables they put on food I can't stay under 10 grams without eating like a chinaman or starving i mean seriously this sucks i am going to shrivel up and disappear if this has to go much longer......strangly enough one of the few foods would be chicken so I would have been good to go eating wings.

If all that doesn't win i was supposed fishin down that way but things haven't came together either so here i sit.
