    Old Salty ... Hard Times.

I was conflicted about writing this thread out of respect for the family but finally succumbed to the reality that this site, and more particularly, this forum, is an amazing resource for support and fellowship of fellow fisherman, business men, and friends.

Here is the story ... I ordered a few planers directly from the Old Salty web site a few weeks ago mainly because the reputation of their planers had lead me to believe they were the only ones to have. After a few weeks, I was growing impatient with the lack of fulfillment of the order and the lack of communication from the company. Finally, after a few unanswered pm's, I called Old Salty directly, (attitude in-tow) only to find out that the Father, (Old Salty himself), and now his wife, had passed away. The gentleman who I spoke with on the phone was obviously one of the children whom, I could tell, was desperately trying to hold the company together in the midst of the sadness that had overcome their family business.

I only write this to drum up support and prayers for the Old Salty company and family. I have no personal interest in the company other than looking forward to the day my planers show up (), but I have seen this site support and lift up so many people in need and hope that my message brings many of us to offer ourselves up to this family in these hard times.

I hope I have not overstepped my place here but since the family at Old Salty has been too humble to bring this forward publicly, I hope that this helps others recognize the hard times they are dealing with if they might be waiting for their planer as well.

    Cheers.

Don't know what to say, except prayer's will be sent for the family. It's got to be tough. The gear I used day in and day out was a testament to the quality and pride the family put into their product. They've got the best planer's I've ever used. I hope all goes well with the family in the future. Frank,SeaPower
