    OK WAHOO & OTHERS

I need help. New Avets with 50 lb braid...having trouble getting a floro leader / knot that won't slip. Without going to the splicing as pictured in a post last night (which was great by the way), what is the easiest knot to form this junction. Any help would be appreicated as this is my first go at using braid.

    Thanks

what size mono are u trying to splice ? ive been using alot of braid the last 2-3 years, from 2lb diam 10lb , and 50lb 12lb diam, usually, on the 50lb i splice 50-60lb mono for a leader/topshot. ive been using an albright, and it has not failed me yet, just make sure u pull all 4 ends of the albright SUPER tight before u clip it.

UNI to UNI Knot is very good. This is the knot I use to attatch leader material to 50 and 80 # braid. The albright and reverse albright are good too, leader diameter will dictate which of the latter two should be used. The UNI to UNI has proven well for me over the last couple years. Let me know if you need further help.

Another option is to double the main and palomar to a swivel above the leader...if you are using a swivel.

Thanks guys...I may have found the problem. I was trying a uni to uni...but upon further review, it looks like I wasn't making enough turns with the braid...see below.

It could be the turn but if you are too far apart in the two line diameters the uni will also slip. If the mono is more than twice the diameter of the braided line, that's when I start to have problems with it. If line diameter is the problem you can double up the braid and tie in a bimini twist, the join the mono to it with a cat's paw knot.

tominator it might be but some in other countries are improving it on biggins, jigging. I just do not know, looks like it would slide of the end. Trust physics I guess

Flat...have you tried that knot yet?

Graceland...I do think the leader I'm trying to attach may be a bit larger than twice the diameter of the braid. Man...I need to work on the bimini...
