Untied around 5:00 on a 23' boat docked in a 55' slip and got ready to go fishing. We made a long left out of the inlet and wanted to go and see if there were some YFT's out there but when we started trolling at about the 650, 82 water and no life so we started trolling north, north, north all day. Grabbed a couple bailers and the thought of seeing a billfish in the area never left my mind. 5 minutes later the port flat gets popped but nothing...there he is! I'm droppin it back but don't feel anything, uh oh. He surfaces back up behind the other flat and grabs that one, same routine and this time it comes tight and starts to do his tailwalk routine. Got him next to the boat and he broke off 2 inches from me grabbing the bill. Anyways, we never saw the tuna we were looking for but the white one made the day.
