OFFSHORE REPORT WB 11/13

[TROPHY SPORTFISHING]

HEADED OFFSHORE WITH HOPES OF A BOX FULL OF WAHOOS, CLEARED THE SEABOUY 5 AM. HEADED TO THE 230 LINE. GOT SET AROUND 8AM. ONLY TO FIND THE WATER WAS DIRTY AND 75 DEGREES NOT THE 79 DEG. TERRAFIN AND OCEAN TEMP HAD SHOWN, GUESS THAT WEST WIND SHOVED THE WARM WATER ON OFF. AFTER A SOLID HOUR WE FINALLY GOT BIT JMS(MATT), MIKE KING, MYSELF AND FRANK WERE HAPPY TO GET 1 FOR 2 ON BLACK FINS. SEVERAL MORE HOURS PASSED BEFORE WE CAUGHT 1 FOR 2 MAHIS THEN LOST BIG MAHI TERMINAL TACKLE FAILURE THEN CAUGHT ANOTHER MAHI. FINALLY THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY A LITTLE RAT SAILDOG TRIED US ON THE LEFT SHORT, POPPED OUT THE LEFT LONG THEN CHARGED THE LEFT FLAT WHERE MIKE PICKED HIM OFF WITH A DINK. THIS WAS FRANKS FIRST BILLFISH CERTAINLY NOT A BIG ONE BUT A SAILDOG NONE THE LESS. FROM WHAT I HEARD FISHING WAS SLOW OVERALL SOME BOATS WITH 0 AND OTHERS WITH 1-3 FISH. HOPE TO GET BACK OUT SATURDAY AND DO A LITTLE DINK FISHING SINCE WE DID HEAR OF QUITE A FEW SAILDOG ENCOUNTERS. CONGRATS FRANK ON YOUR FIRST AND I HOPE CERTAINLY NOT YOUR LAST AND A PLEASURE AS ALWAYS MATT AND MIKE. HEY FRANK BET YOU WISH YOU HAD JUMPED IN IN THAT 75 DEG. WATER INSTEAD OF 60 DEG WATER BEHIND THE HOUSE.

Nice work John & crew. Sounds like you did pretty well on a day of slim pickins. I guess getting creeked this time of year isn't nearly as much fun as in the summer! We'll be headed out Sat to try and find some fish as well, good luck.

Sounds like a great crew on a great boat and they did an awesome job to me.

Fishing has been pretty bad out in the stream the last couple weeks. Water has been dirty as well like you said.

With Matt in the pit, you definetly had the right stuff out there. Theres just not many fish around for some reason.

I guess the killer August, September and October we had must have came out of Novembers pocket. LOL

Mike, congratulations on your first billfish. Pretty work on sticking him too.

Pretty work on the sail and the catch guys.

Sail dog in November, on the coast of NC is dosnt supprise me a bit!
