    Offshore MHC - 10/9

    I finally get to post a fishing report! After nearly 5 months without getting to the blue water, I finally got the chance on Saturday. We decided to get an early start. We were fishing the full spread in the dark by 6:15am. Man, it was beautiful out there! About the time we were starting to get some twilight, the fish were hungry. We got 2 quick knock-downs that didn’t stay tight. Made a quick circle and managed another bite. This time we put a small blackfin on ice about 20 minutes before sunrise!



    We pushed a little further to the south and decided to move into some slightly shallower water. That turned out to be a good move. The center rigger bait got demolished, and it was wahoo off to the races. Nice wahoo in the box.



    We kept pushing a little shallower, and at about 195 feet, the deep planer got hit. We could tell this one had some weight to it. Once we got a hand on the leader, this fish went absolutely ballistic. Thrashing and darting all over the place. Despite her efforts, this citation ‘hoo was offered the steel and a nice, icy ride back to shore.



    The bite shut off for a while, but we picked up another blackfin a little before noon. A few minutes after 1:00, just as we were saying that it was about time for the afternoon bite to pick up, the center rigger bait gets nailed again followed by another big run. Wahoo #3 on ice!



    Not much else for the rest of the day, other than a 3rd blackfin before we picked up to go home. Great day with great company!
