today was the deadline for the plan to save the oceans / fish etc. they were propposing banning all fishing period. anyone heard if we are still allowed to fish ?

Not going to start a long thread, but all of this crap was started a looooong time ago. It was already going to happen as of Fall of "08. It's just going through now. This administration has inherited alot of stuff that gets made out to seem like it just happened. However, what happens now is all up to us and everyone else.

Could not agree more. Many problems were ignored and tried to be forgotten. Now we are ALL paying the price! There is no way all fishing could be banned. The economics would not allow dealers, shops, stations ect. to go under who rely on the rec. fisheries.

Obama appointed Jane Lubchenko, Ultra liberal, tree hugging, publicly admitted anti-fishing Californian. This woman wants to shut the oceans down, she wants complete control of the world natural recourses.

He did not inherit that problem he created it, its special interest politics. She has her own agenda and should not be in control of our fisheries. He does not get a pass on this one, this is solely his problem, and it will be ours if we let her run her course.

We put WAYYY to much money in the economy to stop us. Money talks and with out us, many economies would collapse. I think we need more people fighting for fish stocks to be up so we cal all benefit from the fish financially over time and not just in the moment of making money. We all need to understand why people are trying to save fish populations. It may sting a bit now because we have to reduce some fishing tactics, but when the stocks are up, we will have four times the fish around. I could be wrong, just my opinion.

You need to educate yourself on what has happened in California. We slowed them down in oregon but they still managed to obtain two small MR's they wanted 10 with 20 miles between this was all the rocky reefs fro the entire coast leaving us with sandy areas. This would have completly killed some coastal towns. Does the old addage give them an inch and they will take a mile ring a bell.
We are at a point in time where they have the power monatarily and politicaly, They are using this time to gain all they can. The tide will change in 2010 and we will get a chance in 2012 to begin to reverse it .

We're getting railroaded here in Southern California now with the MLPA process funded entirely by the enviros with many of the appointed Fish and Game Commisioners sympathetic to the cause. One commisioner, Michael Sutton, was the senior program director for the World Wildlife Fund.......

The fact that the state has no money for enforcement and it will have a severe economic impact on the fishing industry does not phase them or their agenda to grab as much real estate as possible. Another personal freedom lost....who cares.

I was at the last meeting Wednesday in LA. It makes you want to puke. These folks are slick and extremely well funded. At best now we're only mostly screwed.
