I mean... goes fishing with crappiekrazy. After a couple of years talking about it, John and little John (who I will call LJ for this report) left Newport early Sat. morning and met Billy and I at the Hardees in Chapel Hill. After we had some breakfast we headed to Jordan Lake to do battle with some papermouths. There was a crappie tournament going on so the launching ramp parking lot was almost full. We launch the boat, and we start our slow troll with John and LJ fishing 8 rods out the back of the boat and Billy fishing 6 up front. I was driver/host/baitboy for the day. Billy struck first with a non keeper and the fish bite was as cold as the weather for the first couple of hours. John was second to hook up but his fish was better than Billy's and met the 10 inch size limit on Jordan:
LJ didn't have to wait long for his turn as he was "on his game". I think I heard him mention that to his dad 1 or 12 times that day! Now before I show this picture please refrain from laughing at his "toboggin" as it was cold and he was wearing it for warmth and not a fashion statement:
As the weather warmed up so did the bite. Billy maged a few up front but does not like to have his picture taken. LJ on the other hand does not mind showing off his catches.
After lunch the weather was getting hot and the bite was getting better too. I take some blame for the slow start, I had some places I wanted to try where I had dropped some brush piles a couple of years earlier. One of them produced some nice fish and I think our biggest one of the day.
At the end of the day we had 32 fat keepers and we threw that many or more back for seed. It was great to have John and LJ aboard and you guys are welcome anytime. I want to put LJ on some LM bass in the springtime so you may have to spend a night or 2 next time. Here are our biggest fish on the cleaning table and a few more photos of our trip.
