This morning a years worth of work and preperation came together for our first BFT of the season. We left the dock at 5:30 this morning and were hooked up by 6:30. With little action the past few days i can truely say this hook up suprised us. We had just gotten everything out and squared away when the deep blue and white Ilander got hit. For the first ten minutes we were not sure what we had as the fish did not put up much of a fight at all, however, with the leader on the reel this fish decided it was time to get serious. We played tug of war for about 45 mins before getting him to the boat at that time we stuck him and it hit the fan. For the first 30 seconds I was not sure if we had him or he had us but two more gaffs to the head and a tail rope and he was ours. Then came the real drama, is he long enough? After swiming him for a while and regaining our composure we got him in the boat and he measured out at 75.5". HELL YEAH lets get to work! The fish cored out at 192 so he was no monster but sushi none the less. I would like to extend a thank you to WAHOONBOX for all of his help and tell sportfishermen.com that it was his BFT class that got me rigged up the right way and insured that I was ready to capitalize on the oppertunity. Thanks again BOX. I will post pictures later.
good work. I can only imagine the feeling after getting all your ducks in a row. hopefully there will be many more for your boat the rest of the season. congrats again
Congrats!!! I tried calling you on the radio but I see you had your hand full. I got blasted as well but didn't score. Im not fishing tomorrow but I'll be back at it after this front goes threw. I spoke with you yeturday at Joes shop. Ken
Another exciting morning on the birdhunter as we hooked up again this morning but with half the spool out and no signs of stoping the line when slack. We pulled the hook on what would have been our second fish. This one seemed nice and we heard tell of a 96 incher that was brought in today. Still not a red hot bite but a few are starting to show up.
Very cool man! Congratulations! You've got me rethinking my decision to fish down south for em. I hope you stick a bunch more this season!! Let's see some pics
