On our way to the coast to do some trout fishing I got a call from a friend to see if we wanted to head to the stream on Saturday. We flipped the coin and decided wahoo and or tuna would be better table fare than trout. I checked the weather aobut 9:30 and it still looked good at the bouy near FPT. 3-5 is fishable in a 47 ft boat so all was good to go.
We got up at 5 am and headed to the marina to meet at our friends boat. On the way I decided to check the bouy since it was a little breezier than predicted. Wave height was 6.9 every 4 seconds and the bouy is 30 mi fr. the stream so we called off the trip and decided to go back to plan A which was gray trout fishing off the beach since the north wind makes it calm on the beach.
After having the Parker splashed over at Southport we all went over there. Had heard numerous reports from people fishing the day before that they slayed the specks up Elizabeth river, Dutchman creek and wildlife so we elected to go to Plan B.
I wore my arm out tossing various mirrolures all morning. Didn't see the first fish. I guess we needed a boat to get up into the marsh since they were the only ones that seemed to catch a fish.

At least we didn't totally strike out though. One of my friends did manage to land a whopper blue fish(3") which bit a gulp shrimp and got his teeth stuck in the lure. I would have loved to kick the weathermans ass as the predicted sunny 65 degree day never materalized and I had shorts and flips on and froze my toes.
Anyway good to be back on the water but we need to learn to stick with our original game plan and maybe we would catch more fish.
