New, S. Atlantic 2009 Proposed Grouper closure
Bulletin just released for the PROPOSED 2009 Grouper/Snapper changes and closures for grouper and snapper in the Southeast Atlantic. See link to NOAA/NMFS FB08-070.

Not as bad as the previous proposal, especially for the recreational fishermen but looks like some closure for the commercial fishermen. I havent had time to study the proposal so hopefully someone on this board will look it over and post their comments.
Additionally, make your (our) voices known. Not sure if this helped with the postponement of the previous pending rule change or not but sometimes "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"!

This is the same as the previous proposal with the Jan-April closure, with the addition of the 5 month vermillion closure on the recreational side. On the commercial side, they are almost cutting the vermillion quota in half, in addition to the Jan-April grouper closure. With the addition of the vermillion closure from nov-march, this is going to push alot of already hurting charter buisness's over the edge.

Just wanting to bump this to the top. If you bottom fish, you NEED to contact NOAA on this and tell them how you feel.
