New Orleans-- First Time !

Just spent a few days in New Orleans before the start of my season up here, eating my way through a mountain of fried oysters, shrimp, and crayfish etouffee, in a pretty fun town. I went back water fishing from Lafitte (just a 1/2 hour drive from N.O.) I fished with Capt. Casey of Griffin charters in a 20' center console, and while the redfish didn't want to play we still managed Black Drum, speckled trout, and alligator gar. We used fresh shrimp under corks on light spinning rods with braid and it was a blast. The gar was positively prehistoric looking! The charter also included breakfast and a cajun lunch of seafood gumbo, so this trip was a home run. Now it's striper time!!
