I just got squirted with ballyhoo poop
So I'm not to good at reading legal jargon but does this mean I cant run my boat legally anymore until I take some class/test?
Just a little confused,
Thanks,

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
No matter what your age or experience the class Lee`s post refers to may entitle you to a discounte insurance rate. I learned this from my latest renewal package and after speaking with my agent.

Unless you are older than 26 (which I am now) but not when I started boating. You will have to have a boating class or any one of the other 10 items.
I think this applies to PWCs as well. So before you let your 20 something take the boat out for the weekend they will need a class. Takes effect May of next year.
This legislation is probably good and long overdue, based on the number of daddy's go fast boats loaded with college kids that pass me airborne no more than 50 yards away on the way out of the inlet.
However, I do think that if you are a 20 something and currently own a boat in your name it seems a little strange that you should have to take a class to be legal going forward.
Safety course is not a bad idea regardless of experience.

I dont think it is a bad thing. I have had the opportunity to run boats by myself since I was about 14 yrs old and I would have gladly taken a safety course and test to do so if that were the case now. My father taught me well and when I got my license, I hooked the boat to the truck and was headed fishing.
The younger kids taking the boat to places like Masonboro and Shackleford do need to be a lot more careful and I completely agree that the safety course requirement would help. I used to be one of those kids.
However, I also believe we should have a boat driver's license as well. It might not solve the problems of idiots on the water like we have idiots on the roads but at a minimum those on the water cant say they werent trained or warned. it would be a good start.
