My Bro Marty slapped me up side the head and said " everything happens for a reason". Within 48 hrs I get a PM from a guy named Tim, said I just bought a boat and I want to get a charter gig started, are you interested. HELL YA!!!! Lets meet and talk. Folks I thought I was a freak about the deep blue, I think I have met my match. When we were talking the first time, I saw myself in him when I first started off-shore fishing and heard the reel scream. He was bouncing waving the arms eyes lit up and talking fast. Damn this guy has the passion as bad as me, two guys on the same boat like this could mean disaster to the deep blue. A brief bio for Capt Tim: Started driving the big rigs as soon as he could reach the helm. Kinda like kids growing up on the farm driving tractors. Fished every major tournament on the east coast and Islands as a mate or Capt. and took home his share of checks. He can fill in the blanks.
The boat: She is a 46 ft Ray Davis with twin Cats, cruise 22 knts, Gary Davis' grand father. We went to get her on Wed. Tim flew in and picked me up at the Beaufort airport and went to Norfolk, class, god I love it!If you haven't seen the outer banks from 5000 ft in air you are missing out .I still hadn't seen the boat except for pics so really didn't have a good idea what the boat really looked like. We walked down the dock and I saw her. To be honest my first thought was .... OH SHIT what have I got myself into! Tim says we are stopping off in Wancheese to see a buddy of mine to do some work on her, Richie Howe, custom Yacht builder, he's going to do the make over. This guy is awesome. Seas were 3-5 following quartering sea, zero wig wag at 20 knots. She is so quiet we could talk on the bridge with no problem. I even went in the cabin and made a phone call, the person on the other end didn't know I was on a boat running full out. I am really getting to like her. Tim pulled the throttles back to 6 knts, GOOD GOD, I CAN TROLL A FLAT 4 FT BEHIND THE BOAT, no wash. OH Yea I"m in love! No tail gate exhaust, flat wash and quite. Ya'll have seen the chick flicks were the ugly girl with the great body gets a make over and gets the guy, well this is her. I'll do before and after pics later, I don't want to scare anyone but let me tell you she is the best riding boat I have been on!! Pulled into Wancheese and Richie sticks out a paw and hops on the boat pulls out the tape measure and goes to work, the dude is and artist and one of the best down home folks you will ever meet. He got what he needed and said bring her back in 2 weeks and we will make her right. We pulled her back into the slip in MHC at 9:00pm last night. The trip was uneventful except for a plugged bilge pump, impeller in the head and a Racor., easy day.
I'm getting reports of a few YFT's and some good Hoo action and we are dieing to get out to really try her out. For the next 2 weeks, till she goes on the hill we want to get some make-up trips going at least to cover expenses. if you want to check us out send me a PM. Good deal trips just to fish the new boat and test the new ride. So you snow bound guys that need a fix lets get it on. Just remember, she's not pretty now, if thats what you like, but she is gunna be a killing machine! Thanks for all the support, this site and all those that contribute.
God I love this Job!!!
