Monday 4/5
With a beautiful morning forecast, Marko, Jeff and I decided to stay close to the beach rather then where we had 4 keeper Bass on Friday. Not even halfway to our numbers we spotted swirls all around us, we got right to business and started throwing some lures. I thought it was going to be an early morning with the conditions we had and I literally threw every lure I had in the arsenal with little success. After a while we got on the hook and tried out chunking clam. It was funny but while running we must have disturbed there natural habitat because we had more swirls when on the move. After an hour or so on the hook I made a phone call to a friend hoping to receive some guidance/tips. The minute I hung up the phone I started chunking hard and throwing bombers and then or first fish was hooked up! I passed the rod over to Jeff and he boated his first bass. It wasn't long until the whole crew was throwing lures. About an hour later Jeff hooked his second fish. A while later we made a move with no success. We ended the day with 2 keepers up to 29" and a beautiful morning on the water.

Captain Jim Lutz just returned from his 3 month vacation in Marathon, FL Keys and wanted in on the action! Capt. Jim, Mark and Myself geared up and broke the inlet around 7am. We decided to start around where we had fish last Friday but after breaking the inlet we had fish busting water again. I wasn't very thrilled to stop on these fish because our lack of success the trip before but it was to good to at least make a few casts. The only difference from this trip and the last was it was a cloudy morning. Mark made his first cast and BAM, hooked up! Not shortly after and I was hooked up, this continued for the next two and a half hours. We had to move around with the fish but we stayed on them. It didn't take us long to reach our limit. Unfortunately Capt. Jim didn't get to fight one fish, I guess he needs to get use to NE fishing rather flying kites in the keys but he did a great job at the helmIt's funny, the very day before we couldn't buy a decent bite (under the conditions we had) but maybe the cloudy day made it happen for us. About 30 mins into slack I hooked a nice 33" 14lbs'er on a nice light action set-up that made for some nice action! We ended the day early with 7 fish 6 in da box!
Looks like she had a run in with a prop
Wed. 4/7
The plan was to return to the same spot where we limited out the day before. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and Dan on the Aimless called the trip. It was early and I was already up so I decided to check out the bridge where there were bass being caught the day before then head home. When I got there I had the bridge all to myself and broke out the lures. After making a few casts My buddy pulled up with his tog gear. He didn't mind sharing some white leggers and a smaller hook. We worked the bridge and almost instantly I had my first short tog. It wasn't long until I picked up a keeper and after 40 mins or so I had 3 nice size fish. My buddy only had one short so I hooked him up with two fish since he supplied the bait and tackle. Nice little ending to my couple days down the shore!
Thursday 4/8
With the success I had on the bridge my buddy Marko thought it was time to bring the 17ft Carolina Skiff out for some togging. Unfortunately this trip wasn't as successful as the day before. We worked the bridge hard and only managed one short and the wind was howling. We moved around a bit and called it a day in the afternoon.
So far my Easter Break has been fun!!
P.S. If you are looking to get out and don't know where to go check out the AC Press from Tuesday 4/6 they reveal it all.
