Went out today where we had good reports of fish and bait. I don't really have much to report, we started chunking (drifting sardines, jigs and live bait) for a couple hours in the am and had decent marks and bait but no action.

Got up on the troll hooked into a small YFT but a Boater on a Boston Whaler decided it would be cool to troll right around us and snagged out line. At this point we thought our rat was a nice BFT. After backing down on it and realizing we were getting closer to this boat we saw his Green Machine hooked onto our skirted bally! NFG Wehen we realized it was small I tried flipping it in the boat instead of cutting there line and from the resistance of them trying to I guess rip the fish out of my hands it flopped right off. Trolled a lump about 5 miles south, had bait but no bites.

Whats up with BFT and the full moon? Can Anyone explain this to me? Why are there so few fish caught? I guess I haven't figured these fish out yet

    Irish,

Sorry to hear about that other troller and what he did while you were hooked up. Sometimes tough fishing convinces people to do things that they shouldn't have.

Bluefin (and everything else but wahoo and breeding marlin) on the full moon? I don't know the "why", but I do know that many decades of detailed logs taught me long ago that I play hell catching all but the fish mentioned on the full. As far as I'm concerned, unless the marlin were getting it on, or I had people who wanted wahoo, I did maintenance on those days.

    My experience, at any rate.

Good luck on your next trips.

Capt. thanks for the tip, I have talked to others who have logs that date back a lot longer then mine and they have said very similar things espically about the part about staying at the dock. Treat it as a "Rum Front" I guess
