need help with guide or locations
okay guys and gals i have a couple of friends over from Scotland right now and we will be heading down to the obx the week of sept 29 thru oct 6. i would love to get Phil out in the sound on some specs with his fly rod. any recommendations on a guide or charter service that would take the two of us? i also have the option to bring down my 16' duck boat and keep it at the dock on the sound side in avon. any advice on what to do or where if we go that route would be great also. if you prefer to pm me so you do not give out hotspots or techniques or just want to recommed someone too. thanks to all and any that can help out.
to give a little insight he and his wife have been coming over this way for 3 weeks the last 5-6 years. we met up vis a different forum and have become good friends. he even had my son stay with him for 5 days whilehe was studying in europe and took him fly fishing on a famous loch over there. great people andhe tries to catch and do different things each year. this will be his first trip to the obx.

I don't know the Sound up by Avon at all but the Speckled Trout have shown up on the Southern end of the Island. Should be some pups around as well. I don't know for sure if the Old drum are still up the Sound in good numbers but I'm sure a few are still around. Actually, fishing the Sound down there is harder than fishing the Ocean--- ya gotta know the spots. It'd be a long haul in your duck boat to the old drum spots, but the grass lines between Frisco and Hatteras always hold trout this time of year. You can always piddle in the inlet and sometimes theres good Spanish fishing in the evening.
Any of the inshore Guides at Hatteras Harbor will put you on fish.

Barry,
There is some very good spec and pup fishing back behind the Bodie Island Lighthouse. Park in the Bodie Island lighthouse parking lot and follow the trail back to the west towards the house on the Island behind it. Wading is probably the best bet in there. Red head/Green grub which ain't no secret or net some live mullet/trap some gudgeons and freehook them. Specs can see VERY WELL! Flouro leader and mono mainline could help but not always neccessity. The bottom is fairly sandy in the creeks back there so wading is not to difficult. There are lots of great places on the inside but trying to explain how to get to them by water over the keyboard...well...it just ain't happenin. Shell bar edges near channels are obviously good places to try if you go looking. Also, there is some great fishing in the cut along the southernmost beach in Nagshead where the charter boats run out. North side of OI. Hope you guys crush em up good. Hope this helps.

You will see folks trout fishing (mostly wading, some in boats) on either side of the south end of the Oregon Inlet bridge. Mostly specks, some greys. Flounders & blues also there.

I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR,....BUT IF ALL ELSE FAILS
....GET IN THE F250 AND DRIVE TO CEDAR ISLAND BY FERRY FROM HATTERAS THEN ON TO MHC.....THEN CONTACT CAPT BRIAN www.extrememeasurescharters.com BECAUSE I DON'T CARE WHAT THE SPECIES IS....HE CAN FIND THEM..........BEEN THERE...DONE THAT
FROM PINFISH TO MARLIN....IT DON'T MATTER
