Need a folding tower built locally???
Alright I want to add a folding tower to my 25 Carolina CLassic, who do you guys recommend I get to build this for me. I would like to stay between Wilmington and Harkers Island if possible. I might get controls while I am at it but that all depends on the overall cost.
Thanks for the help

Custom marine fab in New Bern, Barry Leray in Wilmington or Gore marine fab in Wilmington or Hancock and grandsons in Harkers. All have a good rep.

I have had two tops built - one by Barry and one by Gore and both did excellent jobs. Gore gets a bit backed up a times but I would recommend either one.

you may want to give Hammerhead Metalworks a call in Bath,NC. He did some work for me a couple of weeks back and was reasonable. I've seen some other work he'd done, it looks first class. I've not heard any bad yet. Seem's like he knows what to do and why. His number is 252-945-9749, tell him Frank with SeaPower told you to call, may help.

Gaskill's Welding over near Harker's did a very nice job on my hard top. I know they have building towers for Willis Boatworks as well...
They were willing to work with me, instead of telling me I had to rip off everything and start from scratch - like the others did. Probably saved me 20K

As far as your controls go, I went with the Morse controls instead of the factory electronic controls. The Morse were around $800 compaired to around $4500-$5000 for electronic. If the Morse screws up you replace a inexpensive cable and problem solved. I have heard of too many electronic unexplained problems and people having to replace chips due to moisture. I went with the Morse and am very happy. You will just have to get use to duel controls, one for forward and reverse and one for gas.
As far as the tower, Custom marine seems to have manufactured the majority of the collapsable towers in the Morehead City area.Capt. Joe Shute Capt. Joe Shute |
