Need Advice
I bought a used boat in Morehead over the winter and had some work done to her by a local builder, that was just completed. I am looking to bring her home to Wachapreague Va next weekend. My plan is to fish my way around to HI send the night and run all day to WI. Boat is 28ft with a single. Dose this sound doable in two days (if fishing the first)?

It is certainly doable, the only unknown is your cruise speed and burn rate. If you cruise at 20-25 knots, you can easily make it to Wach from HI in a day. If you don't carry enough fule for the entire trip, or don't know your exact fuel burn, I would recommend planning a stop & go at Rudee to fuel up on the way. It wouldn't be more than a couple miles out of your way, and good insurance if you don't have a firm grasp on the fuel burn situation with the new boat.
Congrats on the new boat and I hope you have a safe & fun trip north.

Great point I dont know the exact burn rate other than ,what I have been told when I bought her. Stopping at RI or VB would be a good call. Thanks Bill

WHEN YOU TURN THE CORNER AT BUOY R4-KNUCKLE...YOU WILL HEAD 120 DEGREES...WHEN YOU HIT 20-23 FATHOMS...PUT THEM IN....WITH THE STREAM TO YOUR STERN...YOU CAN FISH EASY TO HI....MAYBE EVEN OI WITH ENOUGH FUEL ONBOARD....
SOMETIMES 2-3 KTS OF CURRENT IN THE STREAM
GOOD LUCK

It certainly should be doable. Fish your way from the knuckle buoy to Hatteras (Hatteras Landing would be a good spot to tie up overnight) and you can get an idea of your fuel burn. Be sure to log trolling time AND running time so you can get a fairly clear picture...I am going to guess you will burn 3 or 4 gallons an hour at trolling speed. Next morning run up the Pamlico to OI and out and as long as you are comfortable with your range point her for the Wach sea buoy(Be very careful as you come through Old House Channel to Hell's Gate as it has changed significantly and you can find yourself all piled up on the bottom quickly. Pull back to dead idle if you are at all uncomfortable or confused!!). If you are not comfortable with your range point her for Rudee and duck in for fuel and you will still be able to make it. It is about 150nm from Hatteras to Wach via OI.
