    NE BR report 4/24

With the offshore forecast finally settling down I loaded the little rig and headed for the bluewater, kinda. Left the MHC ramp at around 4:30 and rolled the inlet with the hammer down. Knowing I only had til lunch or so to be the hero or zero, me, myself and I making up the crew. Sat shot showed a pocket of 70 so just NE of the Rock and thats where the pointy end was locked on. Beautiful sunrise, arriving about 4 miles ne of the corner I deploy the spread in 70.5 deg and head off the 30 to 65ftm. break and cross back and forth heading NE. Quickly the left short gets smacked, drop back!!! it's on, small gaffer comes boat side then comes unglued, oh well.

Shortly the left short pops then the WWB gets piled on, 2 nice gaffers on ice. Planer does the bounce, small hoo comes to the stern and promptly comes off the hook. Water starts to green up so I work back into the blue stuff when the mayhem starts, planer, short flat and the WWB get hammered and I have them going in 3 different directions. Planer and flat fish pull off but another nice gaffer around 15lb. enters the ice box. In the flash of nibbles I realize the daisy chain is missing the last in line, I hope it tasted good! I have never really used a chain or spreader bar much but I'll use them more often! Water starting to blend in so I work back towards the Corner and the fleet. Planer bounces again 30ish Hoo comes to the boat and comes off, I see a pattern here, don't mess with what works, new hook selection ='s lost fish.

Getting close to 11 and I'm still getting nibbles then everything comes down, I scramble to get the teaser and flat up. 2 more Gaffers on ice, 2 jump off and a mighty mite Blackfin about the size of a hotdog latches on to the planer, it gets the release to grow up. The area around the teaser drawed the attention all day, a peanut liked the squids so much it latched on all the way to the boat before it realized it was about to get the ice box and quickly scats away. Final fish of the day comes in of the left short and explodes on the bait and quickly dumps half a 30W, man finally gonna get a decent Hoo, suprise a hot rod 25lb.+king rolls up, must have been watching the stud hoos do this, any way ice ride to MHC!!!!

I dropped the bottom in a few spots before heading in, few nibbles, I still don't have the new FF figured out but the new thru hull ducer will clear up alot of it then I'll be back to hammering the bottom. Great ride in, got home in plenty of time to wash the Foul Hook'd down, ice the fish down better and jump in the shower then to work, makes for a long day but I was happy to have gotten the most out of the beautiful day the Lord blessed us with. I hope the warm water down south getts on up here, plenty of fish out there, it's just a tad cool and blended. Hope to return Tuesday with the wife and crew so look out fish we are coming!!!!!

Thanks for a fresh report from the BR.
Seems like you had a nice day and it's good to see the warm water and fish showing up. I'm sure your next trip will keep you quite busy with some good gaffers...

Lee it was either head offshore or go to the mouth of the river and catch big flatties. I don't mean the ones you eat either, they are thick around the bombing range. I'll take the BW action any day.

Get report. If I read this right it was a 1 man crew. That 1 legged man in the butt kicking contest has nothing on you. Great job.

Ponce, sometimes it's good to do a solo trip, just you and the bluewater, relaxing. Something screws up no one to get mad at but your self, unless you get carried away, deploy everything in the boat and it all gets hit, at the same time

Box hopefully Tuesday this weather will hold and I can return with some help, it was fun with it being slow and getting alot of nibbles in the fleet

It sure seemed like the weed wanted to form up and a couple days more of this weather and the fishing should be even better. Nice catch
