NC swords?

anybody know the best time of year for swords in NC? I only know 2 other guys besides me that have even tried for them so info is kinda slim.. I've been twice in the summer months, hooked up both times and ended up with shredded and broken leaders. Would like a few more shots-

I don't know diddly about that area specifically but I can toss this into the guess work... We had swords around us in the Hudson, I have heard reports of swords in every canyon down to the Washington... Down where I live there has been a hot bite from Miami through Ft. Pierce which is about as far north as the guys try for them.
Since we tossed the longliners out of the nursery down in Florida the numbers have been steadily going up. It seems like they're everywhere right now. Set the bar... If there is no set pattern for your area, be the one to create the record...

Slide out to 1200' +... Set squid at 100, 200, 300 as the sun sets... Light stick 8' up from the bait and let it rock! A little simplified but thats pretty well it...

If I'm going to do an overnighter 80 miles out in jan/feb, I would feel much more comfortable with a couple of other boats out thereh. Anyone interested in picking a weekend and trying it?

80 MILES OUT THE INLET DUDE.......

I WENT FOUR YEARS AGO ON THIS VERY RUN....FEB 14TH. TO BE EXACT......DINK BAIT WENT WITH ME.........WE COULD NEVER FIND THE 71 DEGREE WATER THAT THE LONGLINER SAID HE WAS IN....(MY FAULT FOR NOT DOING ROFFS) SO I CAME BACK IN TO 200 FATHOMS 68 DEGREE WATER AND BANG....YFTS....THEN...ON THE RIGHT TEASER...THEN ON TO THE RT SHORT THE SUIT PILED ON...150 LBER BUT HE WAS A BLUE ONE.....
