My World …. Is hoping and praying for a good outcome
Would it be nice to be fishing today ….But unfortunately this has nothing to do with fishing
Concern has overwhelmed me at this hour. Sleep has evaded me. I feel strange posting this but just needed to get it off my chest.
Going to be some anxious times for my family the next day or so.
My Grandfather has been uncharacteristically tired, rundown and lackluster the past few months. So after some testing it was determined that one of his valves in his heart was getting "a bit tired" and wearing out. Basically not sealing with the efficiency of a normal valve. Hence the lethargic nature he has displayed as of late. Dr’s said his body has outlived his valve.
They, the Dr’s, determined that the valve needed to be replaced to get him back to his old self. If the valve is not replaced he will not return to the vim and vigor that my grandfather has always displayed. He would slowly further decline.
Not good ole Pop ….He would have nothing to do with that.
As a result of his decision he has had a cardiac catheterization to check things out prior to replacing his valve. Well not the best news came out of that … their findings were a minor and major block. This naturally changed the game plan. The Drs’ discussed their findings with him that the one artery would need a bypass.
So in a few hours my grandfather … my mentor …. At the age of 91 years will undergo Open Heart Surgery, a bypass and valve replacement, in one procedure. His outlook is great, one reason the Dr’s are feeling good about this surgery. He has told us all that he does not want to end life feeling as he does. His odds are in his favor, but there is that chance …that I will not discuss.
What clouds this is the memories of my Dad ... my most crushing loss 13 years ago tonight . I miss you
Stay safe Pop … Your Great Grandson and I still have much to learn from you
I hope everything works out for you and your family, it puts alot of lifes trivial thing into perspective in a hurry when a loved one becomes ill. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Finesse,
My family and I will be thinking and praying for your Pop. I expect a successful surgery and recovery. Please keep us posted and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
