    MY WORLD DOWNUNDER

    Hi All,

This is the 1st opportunity to report on whats happening down my way. To kick my New Zealand season off I had planned a trip to Cairns Australia with the most amazing boat "Ultimate Lady " to see if I could land my 1st Black Marlin. And what better way to kick things off.

I have only just got into Broadband range so a quick report before we head out again

We are just coming back into Jenny Louise reef after being out at the Seamount which is about 80-90nm offshore. Ive a ****e load of photos and a full report Ive been writing but here is a snippet and couple of pics

    Day one - 3 from 3 - 500lb, 250 and 150ish . Cant believe I nailed 2 Blacks on my 1st day.

Day 2 - No luck, couple dropped , but lots of fun with rainbow Runners, Wahoo and Mahi

Day 3 - I nailed a little Blue ( My 1st Blue ) at approx 180lb in the morning on my new Piper 22 which ive been running on short corner whenever we have been towing lures

But the highlight of the day was Robbie hooking up on a very solid 900lb Black on 37KG. 3.5hrs and once again a solid fight and a huge effort from th angler. The size was just massive and nothing like what you see on TV

Today has been slow , trolling all day around the Seamount and slowly back to the reef. Had 1 Knock down , caught some nice Rainbow Runners, mahi and Wahoo.

Out here you need big baits for the big girls

We will be ouside the reef again tomorow and then will head up to Linden Reef about 25 miles north where a few fish have been taken over the last few days.

Just found a nice Stella 20000 on a tasty Rod in one of the lockers so Im about to cut up a Big Eye that we scored of one of the commercial boys and start a berlt trail out the back and see if I can raise a GT

Will report back tomorrow on an y further action on the big girl front. Today was a skunking on the marlin front but pleanty of fun had.

I love the one with the mate leaning on the post as the guy fights the 900 pounder. All kicked back and relaxed...just another day hauling in near granders...yaaaaaawwwwwwwwnnnnnn. Now that is the life!!! YES I'M A HATER...BUT, just like any other 12 Step program...if you can admit it to yourself...your on the road to recovering!!

Great report and pics Wetspot. I think the boat could use some bigger tuna tubes.

Thanks guys, its currently just past 3 in the avo and we are pulling skip baits outside the reef. Just had a small black in on that Wahoo skip bait that was in the Tuna tube photo. Dont think it thought it could take on a bait designed for its Mumma so buggered off. Georgeous out here at the moment with huge schools of flying fish breaking the surface.

Another couple of hours of light left so hopefully I can report back later on this evening with some news.

    Edit

Couple of hits right at the end of the day for 1 little fulla of 120lb which went back home to mummy.

That makes a running total 5 Blacks and 1 Blue for the trip which is pretty coool

Off up to Linden Bank for the last couple of days so will update as we go along if anything spectacular happens.

    Now for some dinner ! ! !
