Hi All,

Ill be sending up some regular reports over the coming Game Fishing Season from New Zealand - Home of the Largest Striped Marlin and Yellowtail Kingfish in the WORLD !!!!

With the warm water coming in after some persistant Nor East weather patterns it is only a matter of days until the 1st boats will be into the 1st runs of yellowfin and this will be of the bigger fish to be seen in NZ waters as they seem to run through ahead the schoolies. All we need now is some settled weather.

The 1st of the Striped and Blue Marlin will be out wide at about 100-150 miles off the coast where the commercial boys are currently cleaning up on the YFT. With the 1st officially recorded marlin being caught 31st December last year there is always a good chance of an early shot for those keen to get a bit wider out.

For Wetspot the next couple of weeks will be busy in finalising this seasons set up details , with new outriggers going on, re plumbing of the tuna tubes and trialling out the new down rigger and planer boards to see how effectively either lures or bait can be trolled deep and what will or will not work.

A number of us are looking to target the deeper water columns this year at about the 100ft mark where a good thermocline runs each season as well as splashing the fleet of lures on the surface, so it will be interesting to see how this method pans out this season.

The trip of a lifetime has also just been finalised and I will be off for a pre season jaunt over to Cairns - Australia for 11 days at the beginning of December chasing Black Marlin on the "Ultimate Lady ". It has always been a dream of mine to head over that way and rumble with these "Bulls" of the sea and I can think of no better way to kick off the 08/09 season than to get a shot at a 1000lb + Black. Puts a new spin on
