Well, my son broke the ice today and got his first buck of the year. Not much to the rack, but was a buck none the less. The deer came out around 11 am this morning and was running like he had someshere else to be. He cleared a steep imbankment. There was not much time to react giving the high speed he was traveling and the angle he entered the CLEARING. He took him with a SILVER BULLET. It was a good clean kill. That deer wasn't going anywhere. Beagleman was still recovering from surgery and one of our neighbors and his boys offered to help my son clean the deer. Hide is being tanned, and the RACK is drying. Beagles got the feet. And we do have jerky on the way..
Yes, I am so glad that no one was hurt. It happened only about 2 miles from the house. He called me and said, "Guess what mom, you are not gonna beleive this, I just hit a deer. " This was about 11:15 in the morning, on a busy highway near an interstate. Today while I traveled near santee I saw a buck cross the road. I guess they are moving during the day.
Our neighbor who cleaned the deer is now preparing it to make the JERKY.
